Day 6—Sunday Services

On Sunday, our group split up into three groups to attend church in three different locations. Three of our members preached at one of the three services. Pastor Reid, Carrie, and I (Gina) attended Pastor Riccardo's church in Duvivier. Carrie and I were able to share the story of the Good Samaritan with the children in Sunday School. We had fun acting out the story and were able to incorporate the children in our story. Pastor Reid shared from Ephesians with the adults of the church. All of the messages seemed well received.

The church in Duvivier was outdoors. As you can see from the picture, they do not enjoy the luxury of having padded seats, nor do they have trained tech's for their sound systems. Both children and adults came and went during the service. At one point, during the service, I noticed that our vehicle was the only one there. If the pepole wanted to attend church, they walked from wherever they lived. Yet in spite of these less than desireable circumstances, the joy of the Lord was present in their hearts and was evident in their lives. The people were truly there to worship God, not to impress others.

We also had the privilege of suprising Riccardo on his 47th birthday with cake and ice cream. It was fun to share the celebration with everyone. At night, six of us attended the start of a Revival at the church of Duvivier. Pastor Reid gave the sermon about salvation. In spite of the heat and loud music, it was wonderful being able to support their ministry. The Haitian people are so glad to have us here and they are already saying how they are going to miss us.

Today, we are headed out for more construction and a trip to the orphanage. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.
